Garbage Rates
Garbage service is mandatory. Rates for common Recycle
Plus services for single-family residents are shown below.
Your fee pays for monthly street sweeping service and weekly
garbage,
recycling, and yard trimmings collection.
The rate you pay is based on the size of your
garbage cart. Recycling is unlimited at no additional charge. By
recycling as much as you can, you will be able to use the smaller
garbage cart sizes, which cost less. Visit the Residential

On-premise collection is provided to owners who decide they would
like to pay more and receive on-premises service where the driver
goes
on premise, empties carts and returns them to their original location.
No renewal is needed, but notification is required to discontinue
this special rate. Sign

If you occasionally have more garbage than will
fit in your garbage cart, keep some Extra
Garbage Stickers on hand. Put your extra garbage in a 32-gallon
trash bag, label it with an Extra Garbage Sticker, and place it
on the curb next to your garbage cart on your collection day. You may buy Extra Garbage Stickers for $6.25 at all libraries, Save Mart, Lucky, and Safeway stores in San José. If you frequently
have extra garbage, you may need to move to the next larger cart
size.
