Donations

Many options exist for getting rid of your
unwanted “treasures.” Before you recycle or throw
it away, try to find a new home for your item. Here are some
ideas to help you get started.
- Host a weekend garage sale to free up storage space and
make extra money.
- Donate clothing, furniture, small working appliances and
vehicles to non-profit agencies,
local thrift stores, churches and homeless shelters.
- Find and exchange items for free or low cost using online
classified services. Visit San Mateo County’s RecycleWorks
Reuse Center for a directory of resources.
- If you want to get rid of leftover or reusable building
materials, consult our Deconstruction
Recovery and Reuse Listings.
