Green building construction and
renovation can significantly save schools energy, water, and facility costs.
State funding for school construction and renovation encourages green building.
Green-built, high performance schools, result in lower teacher/student absence
rates and higher test scores. Green-built schools can also reduce the energy
and material consumption in buildings that contributes to global climate
change.

The Bright Schools Program can help
schools get the most from renovation and maintenance investments, along with
energy efficient designs for new construction.
The program offers free services to identify schools’ energy hogs and
provide cost effective energy saving solutions for both existing and planned
K-12 school facilities. The Energy Efficiency Financing Program provides low
interest loans at 3.95% that have helped over 300 school districts install
over $39 million in cost saving projects in their schools.
