Business Recycling Services

Get free supplies from the City of San José to start or enhance your recycling program by contacting your solid waste hauler.

Improving Business Recycling

Over 500 members of the business community responded to a survey about current recycling practices, barriers and preferences for ways to increase recycling. View the Business Recycling Survey Results.

City Council approved a multi-district exclusive system for commercial garbage and recycling in September 2008. View the Council Report.

In March 2009, Council also approved the new system design and related components to improve commercial garbage and recycling collection. View the Council Report, March 17 Supplemental, March 19 Supplemental and Recommendation and Amendments.

Universal Wastes

Universal wastes are hazardous wastes that are generated by a wide variety of people that contain mercury, lead, cadmium, copper and other substances hazardous to human and environmental health.
